Omniyat Dubai

For years the United Arab Emirates were proud of their largest crane-density in the world - until the real estate crisis even struck there. Not many construction companies survived the lean years. Noteworthy is the story of Omniyat. Where competitors as a Nakheel Emaar could always be sure of the inexhaustible support of the ruling Maktoum family, this builder had to make it on its own.
Omniyat asked Bourne to to form a creative team to design the visual identity of two prestigious projects. We selected the Amsterdam office ...,staat and coordinated the projects in and between Dubai and Amsterdam.

Visual identity for Zaha Hadid building

The building and the interior of ‘The Opus’ building has been designed by the London architect Zaha Hadid. For a translation of her work into an appropriate visual language there are plenty leads available. Still, …,staat chooses for an amorphous, empty space in the heart of the building (the so-called ‘void’) as a starting point in the design program.

This void returns as a two-dimensional form in the visual identiy of the builiding. Besides, the design team creates a three-dimensional animation for video, marketing and online applications. Other design elements include a distinctive photographic style, selected quotes from the architect and the everywhere recurring color silver (all images © ...,staat).

‘The Pad’: Miami in Dubai

Another one of Omniyat’s property is going to be ‘The Pad’, whose architecture is based on the shape of an iPad in a dock. The building is a flat, straight building whose corners will be formed by half-circles. The whole will be build at an angle of about 7 degrees. Inside there’ll be over 200 luxurious apartments.

For this building …,staat developes a completely new concept that can be applied to the exterior as well.

An exuberant, festive, Miami-based style including flamingos.

Instead of letting the owners furnish their apartments, an extensive ‘Art Program’ has been developed for The Pad which also includes a catalog of furniture and accessories. Entrance, lobby and restaurant are completely redesigned and for the different types of apartments style sketches have been designed. The only thing left to do for Omniyat, is build The Pad...
